Torrentflux-b4rt Scripts
I’ve used MANY torrent clients over the years. I’ve been using it since it’s initial release and I’ve seen clients and the protocol evolve since then. For the past year or two though I have really limited myself to a single client though, Torrentflux, more specifically Torrentflux-b4rt. Torrentflux is a web interface that can manage transfers in the Azureus, BitTornado, and Transmission BitTorrent clients. It’s convenient in that you can put it on a server or desktop that is always on and then not worry about transfers stopping if the system goes to sleep or when you shut your laptop.
Torrentflux-b4rt is a derivative of the original project with more features, such as browsing the downloads directory, extracting archives, and moving files. Unfortunately, it appears that development on both projects has slowed, but the software is still a great solution.
Anyway, my reason for this post is not to shower TF with praises, but to share some of the tools that I have compiled with other TF users. Below is a zip file that contains scripts that I have over the past year with varying levels of success. They are used to take torrent files on my local machine and send them to a server to start the transfers on remote host. Included in the zip file is a bash script, and an Automator workflow. The bash script should work on any Unix-like OS, and could easily be ported to a batch file for Windows. These work great in conjunction with OSX folder actions or with Hazel too. It’s pretty rudimentary, but works pretty well so if you are tired of using that form on the web interface they may be worth checking out.
